A psychotherapy consultation gives a person an opportunity to pause and take stock of their life, and to consider treatment options in a safe and confidential space. There are usually 2 or more meetings lasting 50 minutes each.
In psychodynamic psychotherapy, people come once or twice a week for a 50-minute session. It is a long term treatment and usually lasts 2 or more years. Over time a therapeutic relationship develops between the patient and the therapist, and this enables the person to consider what’s going in their lives both inside and outside of them, thinking about both the past and the present.
This can lead to people feeling less anxious, changing negative ways of relating and behaving, and living more fulfilled lives.
